HUBBALLI, Aug 12: Amid challenging circumstances, the railway staff have restored the track between Sonaulim and Dudhsagar stations in the Braganza Ghat section of the Hubballi Division which was affected due to the derailment of a goods train.
A release from South Western Railway has informed that the the track was successfully restored. “On a trial basis, the first train was moved with a speed restriction of 10 kmph. With the successful run, the track was declared fit for further operations with a speed restriction of 20 kmph as a precautionary measure at 07:30 PM,” the release read.
“Currently, only goods trains are permitted to run with a speed restriction of 20 kmph. Once the additional track maintenance is completed, passenger trains will be allowed to operate. Further changes in train services will be notified later,” The SWR release said.
On August 9, at approximately 09:35 AM, 17 wagons out of 58 of a fully loaded goods train were derailed between Sonaulim and Dudhsagar stations affecting the movement of other trains.
