Hubballi, February 23: Police have arrested an interstate miscreant who had been duping people of money by putting up advertisements on Instagram that mobile phones were for sale.
The crime branch police have arrested Deva Tande Shankar Lalwani, 19, of Ullas Nagar in Thane district of Maharashtra. The One Plus mobile phone used for the crime has been confiscated.
The complainant has told the police that, last year on February 20, he found an advertisement that an IPhone was for sale and struck a deal with Lalwani for purchase of the phone, before transferring Rs 55,000 online to him.
The complainant added that, when he received the courier, he got an ordinary handset instead of an IPhone.
Cyber Crime branch police registered the case and, after investigation for a year, arrested Lalwani. He has been sent to judicial custody.
