Hubballi, February 22: Officers of the Excise Department raided several hotels and other eateries in the city following a tip-off that customers were being served liquor without permit.
The officers checked the Sharanappa Non-Veg Restaurant in Bhairidevarkoppa, Renuka and Durga Savji Hotel, and Vincent Restaurant in Vidyanagar, Kamath Fishland and Shri Galidurga Hotel near New Cotton Market, Sagar Palace near Nehru Maidan, New Aradhane and Renuka Savji Hotel on Victoria Road, Jagadamba hotel in Kamari Pet, Devika hotel on Pendar Oni, Kiran, Jagadamba and Renuka Savji in Anchatageri during the raid.
Since the raided hotels had violated the rules, the excise officers registered three cases under Excise Act Col 15(A).
Excise inspector Sanjeev Reddy, sub-inspectors Dattaguru Athani, Babasab Ladagi, Manjunath Hirenayak and excise staff were part of the raid team.
