Muslims in Hubballi-Dharwad to Close Their Shops Today

HUBBALLI, April 22: In a bid to condemn the murder of student Neha Hiremath, all Muslim-owned businesses in Dharwad and Hubballi would remain shut today, (April 22)

Dharwad Anjuman-E-Islam president Ismail Tamatgar, said “The incident has hurt the Muslims. The entire community is ashamed of the accused Fayaz. No faith in the world condones violence and killings,” he said.

“Youths have been treading wrong path and committing crimes under the influence of drugs. This is an alarm to the society and all should work in unison to put an end to drug menace,” he opined.

Muslim community members would stage a silent protest wearing black bands around the arms. Later, they would submit a memorandum to the government through the deputy commissioner demanding harsh punishment for the accused.

The Anjuman president further said that such heinous incidents should be condemned and no one should be allowed to take law and order into hands.
