HUBBALLI, April 21: Six members of a family, including children, drowned in Kali River in Dandeli.
The deceased have been identified as Nazeer Ahmed (40), Reshma (38), Ifra (15), Abid (12), Alfiya (10) and Moyeen Ahmed (6).
According to reports, native of Hubballi’s Ishwar Nagar Nazeer Ahmed, along with his family members, had gone to Dandeli on a picnic. Six out of eight members drowned in Kali river while playing.
Nazeer was accompanied by his wife, children, and relatives. However, Nazeer’s wife Salma is said to be safe.
Nazeer was reportedly working as a contractor in HDMC.
Dandeli police have registered a case in this regard. The police have been able to retrieve the bodies with the help of local fishermen, fire personnel and others.
