The Maharashtra government has been readying for a legal fight with Karnataka regarding the Marathi-speaking areas and taken up a legal consultation on this matter.
Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, addressed a high-level meeting on the Karnataka – Maharashtra border.
Thackeray, National Congress Party head Sharad Pawar and ministers who were part of the committee Chagan Bhujbal and Eknath Shinde insisted unanimously that the matter had to be presented before the Supreme Court. The matter was of legal importance, they added.
Advocate Shivaji Jadhav and senior advocate in the Supreme Court Raju Ramachandran attended the meeting from New Delhi through video-conferencing. Maharashtra advocate general Ashutosh Kumbhakani was also present at the meeting.
