Learning hit as Primary School Teachers Boycott Classes in Hubballi

HUBBALLI, Aug 13: Responding to a call given by the Karnataka State Primary School Teachers’ Association most of the teachers of government primary schools in the City stayed away from classes on Monday.

The association had threatened to go on strike demanding fulfillment of various demands, including promotion, transfer and amendment of cadre and recruitment (C&C) of teachers.

Until 2016, primary school teachers used to teach grades 1-7, under a new order issued by the center, the state recruits graduate primary teachers for classes 6-8. The association has been demanding a change in the rules to allow graduates from before 2016 batches to teach in higher grades as well.

As a result, classes were not held in government schools
