Kidnap And Robbery Case: Hubballi Police Arrest 6 Persons

HUBBALLI JANUARY 23: Hubballi Town police arrested six men on charges of kidnapping and robbing a man

Shivaraj Neguni, Shekhar Barakera and Prashanth Beerannavar alias Kalya of Hubballi, Shankar Katavkar of Belavantara in Kalghatgi, Nagappa Yaligar of Dharwad and Mahantesh Idli of Saundatti were arrested. The police also seized Rs 1.5 lakh cash and two knives from the arrested.

The six men had, on January 13, stopped Vasudeva Mahadevappa Parvathi, who was riding his motorbike and kidnapped him with the vehicle. They took him to an unknown place and, threatening him with their knives, had taken Rs 72,405 cash and his mobile phone from him. They then took the man to another town in a car and kept him for four days, said the police.

The kidnappers brought Vasudeva back to Hubballi on January 17 and made him give them an additional Rs 5 lakh. They also threatened to kill him if he spoke of the incident, before fleeing the place.

Vasudeva complained to the police, who registered a case, said the officers.
