HUBBALLI, JANUARY 22: Three youths trying to take a selfie at the Malaprabha Right Bank Canal in Hubballi taluk are suspected to have drowned on Friday.
Five youngsters, including a young woman, had gathered near a bridge on the canal at Kiresur village for a photo shoot when they were troubled by a swarm of bees. To escape the attack, all the five are said to have jumped into the canal.
Three of them who fell into the water – Raymond Clement, Sunny Johnson Kallaguntla and Gajanan Rajashekhar – are missing.
Natasha Bhandari and Soloman Pillai were rescued by local shepherds.
According to locals, five youngsters, including a young lady, had gathered near the bridge for a photo shoot, when they were troubled by a horde of bees. To escape the attack, all the five youngsters are said to have jumped into the canal.
Hubballi Rural police and firefighters rushed to the bridge and launched a search operation for the bodies without luck.
