Jewellery Shop Robbery Case: Here’s Commissioner’s Statement

HUBBALLI, July 17: City police commissioner N. Shashikumar has said that CCTV footages have revealed involvement of two persons in the robbery case. “However, there should have been the involvement of four to five persons,” the commissioner said in regard to the robbery case of jewellery shop in Hubballi.

The commissioner said this after visiting the spot near Ramesh Bhavan in Keshwapur here.

Thieves, Monday night, broke open the shutters of Bhubaneswari Jewellery shop, located in front of Ramesh Bhavan, and robbed 50 kg of silver and 800 grams of gold.

According to the police, the robbers first burnt the CCTV cameras and then broke open the door of the shop using gas cutters.

“Sri Bhubanswari Jewellery, belonging to Jagadish, was opened here at a year and a half ago. Usually, he used to take the jewellery to home every day. However, for some days, he was not taking it to home and kept the ornaments on display,” the commissioner said.

“A team has been formed to investigate. We will soon find the thieves and book them,” CoP N. Shashikumar said.
