Hubballi Cops Arrest Man Stealing Gold From Bus Passengers
Hubballi, February 22: Suburban police have arrested a man who was stealing gold chains from the luggage of people traveling in the city buses.
Shyam Venkateshwarulu Meda, a native of Guntur, Andhra Pradesh, who is currently residing in Naregalla in Gadag district, is the man arrested. The police have seized 40 gram of gold worth Rs 2.55 lakh, a motorbike and a mobile phone from him.
There had been a theft in the old bus stand on 24th December, 2020. The gold chain in the vanity bag of a woman traveling in a bus from Gadag had been stolen. On January 9, 2021, a smart phone had been stolen from a car parked opposite Mantra Residency. Suburban police had registered cases on these incidents.
Police Commissioner Labhu Ram and DCP K Ramarajan had guided the investigation by the police team led by Suburban station inspector Ravichandra D B.
The arrested man has been handed over to judicial custody.
