Hubballi: AIMIM Demands Apology From Bellad

Hubballi, March 06: AIMIM leader Vijay Guntral has questioned MLA Arvind Bellad’s statement that the 4% reservation for Muslims should be shifted in favour of Panchamasali community.

The statement is unconstitutional and communalist, supporting suppression of people of specific communities, Guntral has said. He was addressing a press meet in the city on Friday.

“There are attempts to deprive the reservation to Muslim community given by the Constitution of India. Bellad is considered a representative with a sense of responsibility and making such a statement is unbecoming of him. His words have deeply hurt people of the Muslim community,” said Guntral.

Further, he said, “If Bellad wants the reservation to Panchamasali community to be increased, he should follow the advice of retired Advocate General Prof Ravivarma Kumar and get the 10% reservation given by the Central government to 3% of the people.”

Guntral urged, “For the cheap comment he has now made, the legislator should publicly apologise to the people.”

He pointed out that in the last 70 years, the Congress has used the Muslim community as vote bank, instead of protecting their rights. In the current difficult times too, Bellad has made such a statement that has only angered the people, Guntral added.
