A 10-year-old boy was badly injured after the battery of an unused mobile phone exploded on his face at Huralikuppi village in Savanur taluk in Haveri.
Karthik Ramesh Kaladagi sustained severe burns in his eyes, face and fingers. The impact of explosion was such that Karthik has completely lost three of his right hand fingers in the blast.
According to media reports, the phone exploded when Karthik put the phone on charge while playing with it.
The boy was rushed to Savanur taluk hospital and later referred to KIMS, Hubballi.
