DHARWAD: An SBI bank manager and three others have been arrested by Vidyagiri police for allegedly cheating the bank to the tune of over Rs 1 crore.
The arrested have been identified as Sandhya, branch manager of SBI Gandhinagar; Ravi Doddamani, Hanumant Madar both pourakarmikas attached to zone 1 of Hubballi-Dharwad Mahanagar Palike and Mallikarjun Chandaragi, a photocopy shop owner near the Court Circle. All the four have been sent to judicial custody.
With the help of Chandargi, Pourakarmikas Doddamani and Madar had created fake salary certificates hired on temporary basis and managed to get them bank loan from the Gandhinagar branch of the State Bank of India.
So far, they have managed to get loans sanctioned for 41 persons to the tune of Rs 3 lakh – Rs 4 lakh each.
