Bengaluru, February 26: Police on Thursday arrested G S Nagaraja, BJP leader from Gudibande taluk and one of the partners of the quarry in Chikkaballapur, which witnessed a blast on Tuesday.
One of the prime accused in the incident, Nagaraja had been absconding since the blast and was arrested on Thursday, said the police.
Ganesh, a person from Tamil Nadu, who had been carrying out blasting for the crushing unit on a regular basis, was also held for investigation.
On Wednesday, the police announced that Raghavendra Reddy, Venkatashiva Reddy, and Madhusudan Reddy, who are also partners of the quarry, and two employees Praveen and Mohammed Riyaz Ansari were arrested for the case.
Gudibande Circle Inspector Manjunath and Sub-inspector Gopal Reddy were suspended for dereliction of duty.
Six people were killed as the gelatin sticks they were trying to dispose of exploded at a crushing site in Chikkaballapur on Tuesday.
