DHARWAD, May 29: Dharwad traffic police on Wednesday destroyed around 240 modified silencers using a road roller at Alur Venkata Rao road (Jubilee Circle) in Dharwad in the presence of senior police officials.
From March 1 to May 29, Dharwad traffic police, through a special drive, have acted against 246 motorists for using altered silencers and seized the modified silencers worth Rs, 12 lakh.
Hubballi-Dharwad police commissioner Renuka Sukumar said, “In the coming days, if any motorcycle with defective silencer is found, the public can immediately send a video along with the motorcycle number to the traffic police station’s phone number: 9480802037 via WhatsApp. The details of the informers will be kept confidential,” the commissioner assured.
