HUBBALLI: Demanding continuation of serving eggs in the midday meals to schools in Dharwad district, activists of Dalit organisations staged a unique protest at Tahsildar office in Hubballi on Wednesday.
Members of various Dalit organisations, under the umbrella of Samata Sene, took out a protest rally from Ambedkar Circle to Tahsildar office. They urged the state government not to retract its decision to serve eggs to school students.
Gurunath Ullikashi, president of Samata Sene, said that the government must ensure that children receive sufficient nutrition in their diet. “The government could give bananas or other supplements to those students who do not eat eggs,” he added.
