Vote from Home: Dharwad Constituency Achieves 96% Voting

DHARWAD, April 26: A total of 1,509 residents in Dharwad Lok Sabha Constituency, including 1141 senior citizens above 85 years of age and 368 persons with disabilities, voted from home in 8 Vidhan Sabha polling stations under Dharwad Lok Sabha constituency on Thursday and Friday.

District Returning Officer Divya Prabhu said in a press release that 96.05% voting was done by senior citizens above 85 years of age and people with disabilities in the district as a whole, including yesterday and today.

Officials visited homes of these voters in all areas to facilitate their participation in the voting process and collected their votes. Returning Officer Divya Prabhu personally monitored the voting process at a few locations.

“A total of 17 people who had opted Vote from Home, including 16 senior citizens and one disabled woman, have died before the polling days could begin.  Apart from this, 62 voters could not cast their votes as they were unavailable at home when the officials visited. For some others, address was not accurate, and a few others were not well,” the press release said.
