HUBBALLI, FEBRUARY 15: The Hubballi Rural Division of the NWKRTC will soon begin Volvo bus service to Gadag and Haveri on an experimental basis.
There had been non-stop Vegadootha buses to Belagavi, Gadag, Bagalkot and Vijayapura, after which, on demand of the passengers, the Vegadootha bus service was extended to Haveri and Ranebennur.
The Volvo buses, however, fare only between Hubballi and Belagavi, currently. Passengers are demanding Volvo bus service to other places too, as the buses are more comfortable and the journey is shorter. There are plans, therefore, to extend the Volvo service to Haveri, Bagalkot, Vijayapura, Sirsi and Davangere.
As a result, the bus service will be provided on an experimental basis to Haveri and Gadag in the initial phase. It will be extended to other districts depending on passenger response, said NWKRTC divisional controller H Ramanagoudar.
