HUBBALLI, FEBRUARY 15: Men tried to break into the house of a policeman in the B Block of the police quarters on Old CAR Maidan, Karwar Road, early Sunday morning.
The incident took place in the residence of Suburban police station constable and Hoysala vehicle driver Noorunda Rathod, who had locked the house and left for night duty.
The thieves broke open the lock and searched the house, but found no gold or other jewelry or even a lot of cash.
The Suburban police have registered a case.
No CCTV camera
There were cases of theft in the new quarters of two policemen in 2019, after which, CCTV camera was installed in the quarters.
There is, however, no such facility in the quarters at the Old CAR Maidan. There is no security provided to the quarters too. This has ‘driven’ the men to try breaking into a house at the quarters on Sunday, is the argument of many people.
The demand to provide better security and CCTV camera facility for the police quarters is only getting louder since the incident on Sunday.
