Vithal Saves Khaleel’s Life in Belagavi

BELAGAVI, August 04: At a time when communal tensions have been brewing in some parts of the country, a teenager in Karnataka has set an example for others by saving the life of a man.

Vithal Wodeyar from Pamaladinni village in Gokak taluk saved the life of Khaleel Rajannavar of Banahatti town in Bagalkot district who was drowning in the Ghataprabha near Mallapur village in Belagavi on Thursday.

Detailed Story:

Khaleel Rajannavar and Mallik Mulla, Banahatti- based traders, were moving to Gokak for business by a car. Their car got into the strong current of the Ghataprabha near the Duradundi-Ramapur bypass.

Vithal, who was riding his bicycle near the river bank, saw that a car was being washed away in the Ghataprabha.

He noticed that only one of the passengers had come out of the car, while another passenger was still stuck in the vehicle. It seemed to Vithal that the one who was left behind in the car could not swim.

Mallik Mulla, had swam to safety but Khaleel was left behind in the car as he could not swim.

He immediately jumped into the river and reached the car. He then pulled out safely the other passenger and took him to the riverbank.

The Rajannavar brothers met Vithal Wodeyar’s family and thanked him for his noble act.
