DHARWAD: The district administration has completely sealed down all the entry and exit points of Siddeshwarnagar colony, at Lakmanahalli behind Someshwar Temple in Dharwad on Sunday after the area reported sudden spike in Covid cases.
Siddeshwarnagar colony reported more than 80 positive cases in a span of two days.
Deputy Commissioner Nitesh Patil ordered to seal down the area after a majority of the Covid positive patients refused to go to the Covid Care Centre for treatment.
As per the DC’s orders, Tahsildar Santosh Biradar, and Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Anusha G visited the area and informed the elders and families of Covid patients about the sudden spike in the cases. They also advised the patients to get treatment at Covid Care Centres.
When the residents of the area did not agree to shift to the Covid Care Centre, the administration issued an order to seal down the area. The Health Department officials are intensively testing the residents for Covid.
The colony has 130 houses with a population of nearly 800. The officials have erected barricades on all the roads connecting the area, and the colony has been totally cut off.
