Schools Closed For Eight Days In This Neighboring District

DHARWAD: In a bid to protect the students and to curb the spread of coronavirus, Belagavi Deputy Commissioner MG Hiremath has ordered to close all schools in the district for eight days starting from Tuesday, January 11 to 18, Tuesday.

Addressing media persons in Belagavi on Monday, Hiremath said, all schools including residential schools in the district would remain closed for next eight days and the same has been communicated to the government.

The decision was taken after conducting a meeting with District Health Officer S V Munyal, District Surveillance Officer B N Tukkari, Belagavi Deputy Director of Public Instructions Basavaraj Nalatwad and other officials and they all opined that closure of schools for eight days could help to contain the transmission of Covid-19.

However, classes for the 10th standard and the PU-I and II would be conducted as usual.
