Religious Flags Removed from Tower, 2 Held

HUBBALLI,Aug 16: Old Hubballi Police have arrested two youths for allegedly hoisting religious flags on a mobile tower at the Ghodke Plot of the Old Hubballi area on Tuesday evening.

The arrested have been identified as Sayyed Nagoor and Ravi Nagaraj, residents of Hubballi.

Vishwanath Budhur, a resident of the area, had lodged a complaint at Old-Hubballi police station saying that two religious flags have been hoisted on a mobile tower with the intention of creating communal tension between the Hindu and Muslim communities.

Acting swiftly on the complaint, Hubballi-Dharwad Police arrested the duo.

Background of the incident: 

Confusion prevailed at the Ghodke Plot near Anand Nagar on Tuesday evening after two religious flags hoisted atop a mobile tower. The Old Hubballi police rushed to the spot to remove both flags. The flags were belonging to two religions and they were hoisted.
