Passengers Irked Over Cancellation of Hubballi-Bengaluru Superfast Express

HUBBALLI, Nov 24: Passengers from the twin cities are being vocal on social media demanding the South Western Railway to restart the Bengaluru-Hubballi-Bengaluru Superfast Express (train no 07340 / 07339).

The passengers are saying that Hubballi division has lost its only dedicated night train to the State capital. The train was more convenient for regular passengers from the twin cities as it used to depart from Hubballi after 11:15 pm and reach Bengaluru at 6:50 am. In return, it used to leave Benglauru at 11:55 pm and reach Hubballi at 7:30 am. The passengers could get reservations easily compared to all other night trains.

In a release issued on November 19, SWR Chief Public Relations Officer Aneesh Hegde said, “Train No. 07340 / 07339 KSR Bengaluru – SSS Hubballi – KSR Bengaluru Superfast Express commencing journey from KSR Bengaluru from 20.11.2023 and from SSS Hubballi from 21.11.2023 will remain cancelled until further advice due to poor occupancy.”

HDMP Leader of Opposition Suvarna Kallakuntla has given a memorandum to the railway officials demanding to restart the train. Hubballi-Dharwad corporators are also demanding the officials in this regard.
