MLC Election: Saleem Ahmed Wins Dharwad Constituency

DHARWAD: Congress candidate Saleem Ahmed has registered a massive victory from Dharwad in the biennial election to Karnataka Legislative Council.

Saleem Ahmed has won by 837 votes as he got 3,334 votes. BJP’s Pradeep Shettar has bagged 2,497 votes.

The dual seat constituency had sitting MLC Pradeep Shettar as BJP candidate while the Congress had fielded Saleem Ahmed of Bengaluru as its candidate.

Among other candidates, Shivakumar Talawar, Fakkeereddi V Attigeri (both Janata Party) have secured 03 and 01 votes respectively. Independents Irapppa Gubber bagged 04, Basavaraj Kotagi – 05, Mallikarjun Haveri – 1217, Mahesh Joshi – 09, Manjunath Admani – 05 and Virupaxagouda Patil got 05 votes.

The election to the Legislative Council from the Dharwad Local Authorities’ Constituency was held on December 10 with a very good voter turnout of 99.68 per cent voters.

The constituency has a total of 7,476 voters, including 3,617 male and 3,859 female voters, 7,448 voters including 3,608 male and 3,840 female voters came out to cast their votes.

Since the term of zilla and taluk panchayat has expired, the gram panchayat members had dominated the electoral roll.
