HUBBALLI: There has been widespread speculations that the State government would lift some restrictions, including a weekend curfew in Karnataka.
Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai is all set to hold a crucial meeting at 1 pm on Friday, along with ministers and health experts in which a decision is likely to be made on the weekend curfew, daily night curfew, and other curbs. The chief minister had, on Wednesday, indicated that the state government will make a decision regarding Covid-19 rules and relaxation after consulting experts on January 21.
Ahead of this meeting, Revenue Minister R Ashoka hinted that the government may consider relaxing Covid-19 curbs in districts where the pandemic situation is under control.
Many people, including union minister Pralhad Joshi have opined and Siddaramaiah have opined to lift the weekend curfew.
Joshi had said, “We need tough rules to handle COVID-19, but we need to focus on the economy too. The present restrictions could be relaxed to improve the economy. This is my personal opinion, he said in Hubballi.
Minister R. Ashoka has said, “Curbs can be lifted in districts where cases are under control. There are some 15-20 districts like that.”
