IIIT Will Be Ready In Tadasinakoppa In Two Months: Bellad

Dharwad, March 04: Legislator Arvind Bellad has said that the work on the Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) near Tadasinakoppa will be completed in two months.

He inspected the institute campus on Wednesday and said that the IIIT building is coming up on a 61-acre site at a cost of Rs 117 crore.

“Higher Education Minister R V Deshpande, Union Minister Pralhad Joshi and secretary of education to the state government Dr Rajneesh Goel have helped develop the institute. Since the initial plan for construction of the institute was not up to the expectation, we received instruction to model the building on the lines of the Dharwad University, Agriculture University and Karnataka College,” Bellad said and added that the new building has been constructed in an attractive and elegant manner.

The support given by the residents of Tadasinakoppa and nearby villages is immense, he stressed.

“The IIIT is being started with government funds, but will function with the fees collected from students and research developments,” said the legislator.

IIIT director Dr Kavi Mahesh, registrar Channappa Akki, leaders Yallappa Arivalada and Manjula Akkura were present.
