HUBBALLI: A delegation of Congress leaders, including Youth Congress leader Shahzaman Mujahid, Thursday visited and consoled the family members of 19-year-old youth Shameer Shahapur, who was brutally hacked to death in Naragund recently.
Addressing a press conference in Naragund along with the local Anjuman leaders, Shahzaman Mujahid demanded the government to handover the case Naragund murder case to CBI for in-depth investigation.
He further said, “The state government should give a compensation of Rs. 25 lakh to the family members of the victim. The Congress party will arrange a lawyer to provide legal assistance to the victim’s family members,” he informed.
“I request the Lawyers Association not to take up the case of those involved in the murder as the accused have attempted to disturb the communal harmony in the region,” Shahzaman Mujahid urged.
Altaf Halloor, Nagaraja Gauri, Prakash Kurahatti and others were present.
