HUBBALLI, Oct 07: Former minister and president of Anjuman-e-Islam Hubballi Jabbar Khan Hayathkhan Honnalli passed away on Friday after prolonged illness. He was 80.
An LLB graduate Mr. Honnalli served as the Minister for Youth Services and Sports in the state cabinet. Before joining politics, he was a teacher in Model Urdu School, No. 1 for 18 years from 1966. He was engaged in social service to the cause of the poor and needy of the society.
The late minister had participated in many welfare activities. To name a few, he founded a primary girls school at Hirekerur and an Arabic school at Muslim Jamat in Keshwapur. He had also served as member of Karnataka State Wakf Board.
His final rites will be performed at Gavi Oni graveyard after Maghrib namaz on Friday, October 7.
