Eknath Shinde takes oath as Maharashtra Chief Minister

Mumbai,June 30: Eknath Shinde on Thursday took oath as the new chief minister of Maharashtra at the Raj Bhavan. Bharatiya Janata Party leader Devendra Fadnavis was sworn in as the deputy chief minister.

From leading a rebellion with a handful of MLAs to engineering a split in Uddhav Thackeray’s Shiv Sena that saw 40 MLAs of the party join his side, Shinde has come a long way from his humble beginnings as an auto rickshaw driver.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Eknath Shinde and Fadnavis on being sworn-in as the chief minister and deputy chief minister respectively.
