Dandeli, Nov 3: A crocodile attacked a man and dragged him deep into the water while he was taking bath in the Kali River near Eshwar temple on Kulagi Road in Dandeli town of Uttara Kannada district on Thursday.
The deceased has been identified as Pitambardas Maheshwari, 65, a resident of Bangur Nagar. His dead body was found near Kulagi bridge.
According to police, the locals saw a crocodile attacking and dragging a man, who was swimming in the river, and informed the authorities.
This has been the fifth attack by crocodiles that took place in Dandeli within the span of a year.
