‘COVID-19 Rules to Be Implemented More Strictly In Dharwad’

DHARWAD: As Dharwad district is recording an increase in COVID-19 cases in the last two weeks, Deputy Commissioner Nitesh Patil has said that steps would be taken for stricter implementation of COVID-19 rules in the district.

Addressing mediapersons in Dhawad, DC Patil said that Dharwad was one among the eight districts with high positive rate. “Considering the second wave, there is a need for everyone to be a Corona warrior, take utmost caution and sensitise others,” he added.

“Several teams have been formed to ensure that face mask wearing and physical distancing is maintained. Shops that violate Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) will be locked till April 20. Already, government hostels had been declared holidays,” he said.

“HDMC has been instructed to keep a strict vigil on apartments and instruct the owners to close the swimming pools, gyms, and clubs,” he added. The DC recalled that all mass religious rituals have been prohibited and car festivals inviting large gatherings also had been banned.

“Government and private buses should limit the passengers to 50% and make sure that physical distancing was maintained. If any bus exceeds the number, it would be seized,” he said.

The DC further warned hotel and restaurant owners that if any person was seen entering hotels, bars, and restaurant without a mask, the respective hotel or restaurant will be sealed immediately till April 20.

Police Commissioenr Labu Ram, Superintendent of Police P. Krishnakant , HDMC Commissioner Dr. Suresh Itnal and others were present.
