DHARWAD: As the construction work of Dharwad City Bus Terminal is all set to begin from February 14, buses will not be operated from the CBT.
Hubballi-Dharwad City Transport Corporation’s Divisional Controller H. Ramanagoudar has informed that the buses which were being operated from Dharwad CBT will be temporarily shifted to LEA canteen and Kittle College back side area.
“In a bid to construct the new city bus terminal, the existing CBT has to be demolished. Therefore, the buses movement will be shifted from CBT from Wednesday (February 14) morning. The temporary locations have been identified after conducting a joint inspection by the transport corporation and the police department,” he informed.
Upgradation of the CBT at Dharwad was a long pending demand from the citizens of Dharwad. The new City Bus Terminal will be constructed at a cost of ₹13.11 crores.
Karnataka State Transport Minister Ramalinga Reddy has already performed ‘bhoomi pooja’ for the construction of the new bus terminal. The contractor has been given the deadline to complete the construction within a year.
