Bear attack: KIMS doctors perform successful surgery on Survivor

HUBBALLI, Sept 22: KIMS Director Dr. Ramalingappa Antaratani informed that the 40-year-old Fakkirappa of Kanur village in Mundagod Taluk, who was seriously injured by a bear attack, was successfully operated at KIMS that too free of cost.

Addressing a press conference at KIMS on Thursday, Dr. Ramalingappa said that a bear had attacked Fakkirappa who was working in a field on July 31. He suffered injury in eye, face and hands, the director added.

After giving initial treatment at Mundagod, the doctor advised him to get admitted to KIMS.

At KIMS, a team of expert doctors, including Manjunatha Vijapur, Dr. Vasant Kattimani, Dr. Vivekananda Jivanagi, Dr. Dharmesh, and Dr. Spurthi implanted a 3D customized titanium implant and performed the eye surgery successfully; Dr. Ramalingappa added.

Medical Superintendent Dr. Arun Kumar C, Dr. Manjunath Bijapur, Dr. Rajasekhar Dyachery, Dr. Vasant Kattimani, Dr. Anuradha Nagana Gowdara, and others were there.
