DHARWAD: The district administration has relaxed the lockdown rules in Dharwad for three days after widespread criticism of the strict curbs.
In an order on Tuesday, May 25, 2021, Deputy Commissioner Nitesh Patil said people would be allowed to buy groceries, meat and other essential items from 6 am to noon (six hours) from Thursday, May 27, to Saturday, May 29. Earlier, grocery and meat shops were allowed to open only from 6 am to 10 am on Thursday, May 27, and Friday, May 28.
The deputy commissioner said the working hours of grocery and meat shops had been extended to avoid crowding. The decision was taken after holding discussions with the grocery merchants of Hubballi-Dharwad, he added.
“People must visit the shops individually and buy the essentials without crowding in front of the stores. After this three-day relaxation, grocery and meat shops will be allowed to open only after June 7. However, vegetables and milk will be available every day from 6 am to 8 am,” Patil said.
