The Wait Is Over: Crocodile Park Inauguration Today

The much awaited crocodile park, developed on the banks of Kali river near Dandeli by the Tourism Department and the Forest Department, is all set for formal inauguration today.

The Public Works Department had started developing this crocodile park in 2019 at a cost of Rs three crore. Though the development work was completed in June 2021, it was not inaugurated.

Finally, the ‘muhurata’ for the inauguration has come. District In-charge Minister Kota Srinivas Poojary will inaugurate the park on Sunday, January 30. Former minister & MLA R V Deshpande will preside.

This natural park would be a special attraction for people of Hubballi-Dharwad visiting Dandeli.

Features At The Crocodile Park

Along with offering an opportunity to spot mugger crocodiles (Indian crocodiles) in their natural habitat, the park has sculptures of crocodiles, deers and giraffes. It also has a fountain, play equipment to entertain children.

This apart, the park has Paragola, musical fountain with seating facilities, sand pick, amusement park, walking path, watchtowers with three watching spots to facilitate tourists to watch crocodiles in the Kali river.

Also, arrangements have been made for the parking of vehicles and security, and ticket counters have been set up.
