Shakir Ahmed Cracks UPSC Exams

HUBBALLI: Shakir Ahmed from Belagavi district’s Savadatti taluk has secured 583rd rank in the Civil Services Examination (CSE) conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) for the year 2020. The results were declared by the UPSC on Friday evening.

31-year-old Shakir Ahmed Akbar Sab Tondikhan completed SSLC at Hukkeri in Belagavi district and had bagged the first rank to the district. He completed PUC at RLS College in Belagavi and bagged ‘Ideal Student’ award.

Shakir then completed BE (E&C) at BMS Engineering College, Bengaluru; where he clinched a gold medal and rank.

He was selected by Samsung during campus placement drive and worked in the R&D section of the company. Later he quit his job in order to serve a government job and started preparation for UPSC and KPSC examination.

Shakir successfully cracked KPSC exam in 2014 and deputed in the Youth Welfare and Sports Development Department. He secured good rank in 2015 when he reattempted the KPSC examination and got Department of Commercial Tax.  He was a government officer since 2017.

In order to realise his dream of cracking UPSC Examinations, Shakir continued his studies being a KPSC officer. He finally succeeded in UPSC-2020 examination and achieved 583rd rank.

His father Akbar Sab Tondikhan is a retired government servant.
