HUBBALLI, August 11: Renuka Sukumar, a 2011 batch IPS officer, took charge as new Police Commissioner of Hubballli-Dharwad police. She is the first woman to assume the charge as Commissioner of Police in the commissionerate.
Renuka had earlier served as the first woman Deputy Commissioner of Police (Law & Order) in the Hubballi-Dharwad Police Commissionerate in 2018, and later as Superintendent of Police, Koppal district..
The post of a regular commissioner of police for Hubballi-Dharwad had remained vacant with the transfer of Raman Gupta in June.
Later, IPS officer Santoshbabu who was serving as the Deputy Director of intelligence had been asked to take additional charge as Commissioner, Hubballi-Dharwad Police.
