Rahul Gandhi visits National Flag Manufacturing Centre at Bengeri ; Spark against the center

Hubballi,Aug 03: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi visited the national flag manufacturing center at Bengeri in the city on Wednesday.

Received information from the staff about the production of national flag. The staff said that the flag flying at the Red Fort of Delhi and important places in the country is being produced from here.

On the occasion of Independence Amrit Mahotsav, the National Flag Code was amended to allow production of the flag in polyester fabric, which led to outrage across the country. Against this backdrop, Rahul visited the national flag production center of the Khadi Village Industry Institute here and discussed with the staff.

Later speaking to the media, he said, ‘Traditionally, the national flag is made of khadi. “We are in favour of the national flag made of khadi, which represents the unity of the country,” he said.

“The central government is taking money from the hands of medium and small businessmen and giving it to two or three big businessmen. Agrarian law, demonetisation policy is also anti-poor. This is a wrong decision’, he expressed indignation.

AICC General Secretary K.C. Venugopala, KPCC President D.K. Shivakumar, Sameem Ahmed, Rajat Ullagaddimath other leaders were present.
