Pourakarmikas Draw ‘Rangoli’ to Cover Garbage Black Spot

HUBBALLI, Feb 27: On Tuesday morning, residents of Gavi Oni were in for a surprise as they saw intricate rangoli designs in place of garbage near at Gavi Oni cross near Kamaripet Police Station in Hubballi.

Several people would throw away garbage on the roadside causing inconvenience to the residents and passersby. This went on despite door-to-door waste collection vehicle from HDMC visiting the area.

HDMC authorities tried their level best to prevent people from throwing garbage on the road. But these requests from HDMC and residents fell on deaf ears and the habit of littering continued. Fed up by telling them no to throw garbage, pourakarmikas decided to take this artistic way to put an end to the littering menace.
