HUBBALLI, JANUARY 23: Nazeer Ahmad Honnyal has been appointed president of the Hubballi-Dharwad city unit of the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM).
Usmangani Humnabad, state president of the AIMIM, released an order appointing Honnyal as city president. He also said following a disciplined line of working was necessary for the party’s coordination and functioning.
Honnyal, who spoke on the occasion as the new president of the city unit, said that he was confident of strengthening the AIMIM in Hubballi-Dharwad. He pointed out that members of other parties too were expressing a desire to join the AIMIM.
He also expressed confidence in the party fielding several of its members in the Hubballi-Dharwad Municipal Corporation election, which is round the corner.
Honnyal had been a member of the Congress before joining the AIMIM.
