Operation Footpath Continues At Market Areas In Hubballi

HUBBALLI: After a day’s gap, the district administration continues the encroachment clearance drive at the market areas in Hubballi on Tuesday.

Today at around 5 pm, without giving any prior information, Deputy Commissioner Nitesh Patil reached Hubballi market areas along with the police, HDMC authorities, and Land and Revenue Department personnel to the market area in Hubballi and continued to clear the encroachments.

Earth moving machines and tractors went around Durgadbail, Shahbazar and Tabibland main road clearing the encroachments.

The operation began at 5pm and lasted until 8pm. At a stretch of around three kilometers, 40 to 50 stalls, staircases, and signboards that were illegally set up on footpaths were cleared during the drive.

“It was a long-pending demand from the people of Hubballi to clear the encroachments as they had left little space for walk. We had no other option but to use earthmovers to clear the encroachment,” Deputy Commissioner Nitesh Patil said.

HDMC Commissioner Dr. Suresh Itnal, Deputy Commissioner of Police RB Basargi, Tahsildar Shashidhar Madyal, and other officials were present.
