HUBBALLI: As many as 40 persons have been arrested in connection with the stone-pelting incident that occurred on Saturday late night in Old-Hubballi.
Hubballi-Dharwad Police Commissioner Mr. Labhu Ram said, “We have arrested 40 persons in connection with the violence so far and six cases have been filed. The police would take stringent action against those involved in the violence.”
“We have also initiated action against the youth who shared the defamatory post on social media. An FIR has been registered against him and he has been arrested,” he said.
“The police will take strict action against those taking the law into their hands. Several people try to create disturbance by taking the incident as an opportunity. We cannot allow them to do so. We will not allow it to recur, Mr. Labhu Ram warned.
“Sufficient police force has been deployed in the City to avoid any untoward incident. More force is also coming. Further investigation is on, the commissioner informed.
