HUBBALLI: Now people in Hubballi can get a 3-layered face mask for just Rs. 2 as members of the Young-India, Hubballi chapter, donated 12 mask vending-machines to Hubballi-Dharwad Mahanagara Palike (HDMP).
Union Minister Pralhad Joshi, and District In-charge Minister Jagadish Shettar inaugurated the machines on the HDMP central office premises here on Sunday.
The HDMP is planning to place these mask vending-machines at crowded places such as market areas, railway station, bus stand, and others.
Young India Founder Chair Shrinivas Joshi said, “these specially modified machines were procured from Mumbai, and each machine costs Rs 20,000. At present, these surgical masks are being sold for Rs 10 each in the market. We will provide sealed mask for Rs 2 each,” he said.
Each machine can store and dispense off 100 masks at a time. The Agarwal Pharmacy, which has been given operational and management responsibility of these vending-machines, would be replenishing the masks every time they go empty, he noted.
Young India present Chair Sachin Tenginakai, Co-Chair Aishwarya Bhat, Suvaarna Groups of Companies Chairman VSV Prasad, Kiran Agarwal, and others were present.
