Mysuru- Dharwad Train Catches Fire?

HUBBALLI: Several media houses have reported that Mysuru- Dharwad train passengers had miraculous escape after fire broke out in one of the compartment.

According to the reports, the train headed to Dharwad from Mysuru was stopped at Mandagere of KR Pet taluk in Mandya district, after passengers raised alarm.

The incident reportedly occurred around 12 am. Fire brigade personnel reportedly rushed to the spot and were successful in bringing the situation under control. After a hour long operation, the train resumed its journey.

Aneesh Hegde, Chief Public Relation Officer of South Western Railways, told Hubballi Times that There was no fire in the coach.

“Alternator (generator which is used in lighting & fans) of D1 coach had developed a jam which caused smoke. It was immediately attended. Not an issue of safety,” Mr. Hegde informed.
