HUBBALLI: A 36-year-old man breathed his last after he was assaulted over a trivial reason in the limits of Bendigeri police station in Hubballi.
The deceased has been identified as Manjunath Ilkal, 38, a resident of Veerapur Oni.
According to reports, one Mahantesh Kalagar of Agasar Vaddara Oni punched Manjunath on his nose when the latter did not give 20 rupees to Kalagar. Subsequently, he was rushed to the KIMS hospital.
Manjunath’s wife had lodged a complaint in this regard at the Bendigeri police station.
However, the injured victim could not respond to the treatment and succumbed to the injuries.
Bendigeri police registered a case against Mahantesh and arrested him.
