LPG Cylinder Becomes Costlier As Price Hiked Again

Price of the Non-subsidised LPG gas cylinder was hiked by rupees 25 per cylinder with effect from August 17.

According to Indian Oil Corporation, with the price hike, consumers will have to pay 859.5 rupees for a non-subsidized gas cylinder (weighing 14.2 kilograms) in Delhi. In Dharwad district, per LPG cylinder used to cost Rs. 828.50 in June, 854.00 in July and it is likely to become 879 in August if the latest hike is considered.

Generally, the price of non-subsidized LPG cylinders are revised monthly and changes are made effective from the beginning of the new month. Due to the local taxes involved, the rates of cooking gas differ in various parts of the country.

Currently, the government provides 12 subsidised LPG cylinders of 14.2 kilograms to a household every year. The amount of the subsidy provided by the government on the annual quota of 12 refills varies from month to month.
