Loudspeaker Issue: State Govt Releases Fresh Guidelines

Bengaluru,May 10:Amid loudspeaker row, the Karnataka Government Tuesday issued fresh guidelines about installation and usage of loudspeakers.

The order stated that users mus obtain written permission from designated authority within 15 days.

The order was issued a day after CM Basavaraj Bommai held meetings with senior officials of police, home and law department.

Those who do not obtain permission, must remove loudspeakers voluntarily, said the order.

According to the Orders, a committee shall be formed at different levels to decide the application for the loudspeaker, public address system. The following committees shall decide the permission to be given.

“In all Police Commissionerate areas – Assistant Commissioner of Police, Jurisdictional Executive Engineer of the City Corporation, and a representative of Pollution Control Board.

“In all other areas, DySP, the jurisdictional Tehsildar, and a representative of Pollution Control Board.” the order said.
