Leopard Trapped In Cage

DHARWAD: The elusive leopard finally fell into a trap kept for it on Saturday night at a sugarcane field in Kavalgeri village in Dharwad.

People of Kavalgeri village were complaining of sighting a leopard in the area for the past several days. District forest officials had placed around six cages with meat in and around the fields. More than 60 employees of the forest department were continuously engaged in the combing operation.  

The leopard might have come to eat the meat late on Saturday night or on Sunday early morning and fell into the trap. The forest department officials later released the big cat into the forest, Deputy Commissioner Nitesh Patil said.

The DC congratulated all Forest Department officers and staff headed by Yashpal Ksheersagar who conducted the operation successfully.
